26 Genius Blue-Collar Fixes and Engineering
If you need something fixed as soon as possible for a reasonable price, don't go looking for a fancy degree. That's because Johnny and his team of boys next door know just what to do, and they'll fix whatever you need with whatever you have so that it works as good as new... even if it doesn't look it.
You'd be hard-pressed to find smarter, and more functional DIY jobs than what blue-collar engineers produce. This gallery alone features motorcycles made out of tractors, bicycles made out of toilets, and wheels made out of many much smaller wheels. If there's a will there's a way.
While blue-collar engineering is typically an off-the-books affair, some examples have made their way into the more official world. One photo shows a warehouse ceiling air conditioner held in place by high stacked plastic pallets, and Vanderbilt's new football stadium jumbotron is currently held up by some cranes. I wonder what OSHA has to say about all that.
But the most important feature of blue-collar engineering is that it works, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a single one of these designs that doesn't get the job done. It's just the blue-collar way.
